New Student Safety Briefing Programme at IBS Successfully Conducted

20 April 2026 – The Occupational Safety and Health Committee (JKKP), Institute of Bioscience (IBS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), in collaboration with the IBS Postgraduate Section, successfully organized the New Student Safety Briefing Program at the Tongkat Ali Emas Seminar Room, IBS.

This program involved postgraduate students from Semester 1 to Semester 4 as well as industrial training students, with the aim of providing early exposure to new students while strengthening the understanding of existing students on laboratory safety practices and the importance of occupational safety and health throughout the conduct of research activities.

The programme featured a line-up of speakers comprising Prof. Dr. Zunita Zakaria (Director of IBS), Prof. Dr. Ina Salwany Md Yasin (Deputy Director of IBS and Chairperson of JKKP IBS), Mr. Rafiuz 

Zaman Haroun (Head, Laboratory Services Management Secretariat, IBS), and Ms. Nor Umaira Abu Asan (Secretary of JKKP IBS).

This program reflects IBS’s commitment to ensuring a safe, conducive research and learning environment while fostering a disciplined and responsible work culture among students and staff.
