Acceptance of Incentive Grant Offer from Malaysian Brain, Mind and Neuroscience Research Foundation Cycle 1-2023 (YPOMNM) by UPM Researcher

23 January 2024 - A total of RM6,000 was awarded by YPOMNM as a research grant to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) researcher, Dr. Norazalina Saad from the UPM-MAKNA Cancer Research Laboratory (CANRES), Institute of Bioscience (IBS) to conduct a study entitled "Dissecting the Combinatorial Effects of Magnetite Polymeric Nanoparticles Encapsulated Donepezil for Neurodegenerative Disease". The study revolves around the exploitation of nanotechnology in drug delivery and the toxicological assessment of the studied nanoparticles. The findings from this study may have great potential in advancing the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the brain.

A ceremonial mock cheque presentation took place at the IBS on January 23, 2024. Professor Dato' Dr. Jafri Malin Datuk Abdullah (University of Science Malaysia), the founder of YPOMNM, and Associate Professor Dr. Durriyyah Sharifah Hasan Adli from the University of Malaya presented the mock cheque. Also in attendance were trustee member Dato' Dr. Nasser Abdul Wahab (Head of Neurosurgery Department, Putrajaya Hospital), Associate Professor Dr. Ina Salwany Md Yasin (Deputy Director of IBS), Associate Professor Dr. Chia Suet Lin (Head of the CANRES), and co-researchers Professor Dr. Norhaizan Mohd Esa and Associate Professor Dr. Che Azurahanim Che Abdullah.

YPOMNM was established to promote awareness and appreciation for neuroscience in Malaysia. The foundation offers financial assistance, services, and fundraising opportunities for researchers interested in brain, mind, and neuroscience research. Additionally, YPOMNM aims to create facilities in laboratories and clinical research centers to support researchers in their endeavors.
