15 July 2024 - A delegation from the Department of Animal Production, Welfare, and Veterinary Sciences, Harper Adams University (HAU), United Kingdom, visited the Aquatic Animal Health and Therapeutics Laboratory (AquaHealth), Institute of Bioscience (IBS), Universiti Putra Malaysia. This visit, represented by Dr. Tharangani Herath, aimed to closely observe the operations and facilities at AquaHealth, as well as to conduct a post-mortem demonstration. The visit commenced after the completion of the Let's Talk@IBS Series 33 session entitled “Vaccines in Aquaculture: Current Advances and Role in Reducing AMR” on July 15, 2024, where Dr. Tharangani Herath also served as a guest speaker. After the session, she was taken on a tour of the AquaHealth facilities. On 16 July 2024, Dr. Tharangani conducted a fish post-mortem demonstration at AquaHealth, followed by a discussion session with participants to address challenges and issues encountered. Dr. Tharangani Herath is a co-researcher in the BactiVac-funded project alongside Associate Professor Dr. Ina Salwany Md Yasin, the principal investigator. They are collaborating on vaccine research in Malaysia and Indonesia using the ViVac product, a feed-based vaccine to prevent vibriosis in fish.
