20 January 2026 – The UPM Microbial Culture Collection (UPM-MCC), Institute of Bioscience, organised a roadshow programme to the Halal Products Research Institute (IPPH) and the Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFOS). The programme aimed to raise awareness on the importance of long-term preservation of microbial cultures and to introduce Universiti Putra Malaysia Policy (Deposition of Significance Microorganisms) 2024.
The roadshow talk was delivered by Ms. Musliyana Mansor, Science Officer. Also participating in the programme were Ms. Nor Umaira Abu Asan (Science Officer) and Ms. Ainaa Syafiqah Mohd Alias (Assistant Science Officer). The programme continued with a question-and-answer session and the completion of feedback forms by the participants.
A total of 13 participants from IPPH and 13 participants from ITAFOS attended the programme, comprising research officers, science officers, technical staff, and postgraduate students. It is hoped that this programme will further enhance awareness among the UPM community on the importance of microbial preservation and deposition in line with relevant university policies.
