28 August 2024 – From August 14 to 16, 2024, the Institute of Bioscience (IBS) welcomed a delegation from Sweden, featuring Dr. Sofie Olofsson of Lund University and Prof. Jean Yong from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences(SLU). The delegation toured IBS facilities and engaged in discussions about potential research collaborations with IBS researchers, led by Dr. Khairil Mahmud, Coordinator of the Biodiversity Unit (UBD), and Dr. Nor Asma Ab Razak, Research Officer at the Natural Medicines and Products Research Laboratory (NaturMeds).
During their visit, the delegation explored several key areas of the institute, including the UBD, the IBS Conservatory Park, and NaturMeds. They also participated in discussions with IBS officials, researchers, and students. As part of their cultural experience, the visitors enjoyed a traditional Malaysian lunch, featuring nasi berlauk, satay, and the exotic durian fruit.
On the final day, the delegation met with Prof. Dr. Zunita Zakaria, Director of IBS, who presented them with souvenirs as a token of appreciation. They also took part in the IBS community’s Merdeka Day celebration at the institute’s premises, marking the conclusion of their fruitful visit.
