1 - 13 March 2025 - Professor Dr. Natrah Ikhsan, a Researcher from the Faculty of Agriculture and Institute of Bioscience, UPM, played a key role at the Global Antimicrobial Resistance Innovation Fund (GAMRIF) Summit 2025, presenting her groundbreaking research on Integrated Quorum Quenching Strategies to Reduce Antimicrobial Resistance in Shrimp Aquaculture. Her project, led by the Microalgae Biota Technology and Innovation Group (ALBIC), Faculty of Agriculture, UPM, was conducted in collaboration with Aquatic Animal Health and Therapeutics (AquaHealth), Institute of Bioscience UPM, and the Selangor Fisheries Biosecurity Centre, Department of Fisheries, Malaysia.
The GAMRIF Summit 2025 brought together global experts from research institutions, governments, and international organizations to strengthen collaboration and innovation in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research and development (R&D). GAMRIF, a One Health UK aid fund, supports AMR-related R&D worldwide, particularly benefiting low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). "AMR is not a distant threat; we are facing it today. We must work together to ensure essential medicines remain effective for future generations," emphasized a Summit spokesperson. By fostering partnerships and driving scientific advancements, the GAMRIF Summit 2025 underscored the critical need for continued investment in AMR R&D to protect global health.
