5 June 2026 – An official visit and discussion session between a delegation from the international publisher Wiley and a representative from the Natural Medicines and Products Research Laboratory (NaturMeds), Institute of Bioscience (IBS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was successfully held at NaturMeds, IBS, on 5th June 2026 at 10:30 AM.

The meeting involved the presence of the Wiley delegation led by Mr. Sourabh Maheshwari, Director of Global Markets and Partnerships. He was also joined by Madam Nitya Dewi, Account Manager (Research, APAC Core) for Wiley Malaysia. NaturMeds, IBS, was represented by Dr. Chan Kim Wei, a Senior Research Officer who also holds key editorial roles for Wiley publications, serving as the Chief Editor for the Advances in Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Academic Editor for the Journal of Food Biochemistry, and Advisory Committee Member for the Journal of Food Processing and Preservation.

The primary objective of this meeting was to have an in-depth and informal conversation regarding the broader publishing and research landscape in UPM and Malaysia. Among the key topics discussed were local publication outputs, current research priorities, and the evolving academic environment in the country. Furthermore, this visit served as an initiative to acknowledge and appreciate Dr. Chan Kim Wei's active contributions as an editorial board member to Wiley's publications.

Overall, the discussion took place in a positive atmosphere, resulting in a fruitful exchange of ideas and perspectives for both parties. Such engagements are highly valuable and essential to further strengthen the strategic collaborative network between UPM and a leading global publisher like Wiley, ultimately enhancing the global visibility of the university's research outputs.
