Congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Nurbaya Oslan and fellow researchers for the latest publication in Microorganisms. In this publication, a new host-vector system was constructed using a traditional food starter (ragi) to express a thermostable bacterial lipase. The yeast was identified as Meyerozyma guilliermondii strain SMB and has shown a promising result to produce the recombinant protein using the modified vector. The article also describes the great potential of this local yeast system in producing other recombinant proteins and enzymes as compared to the commercial system (Komatagaella phaffii).
