21 March 2025 - The Spiritual Bureau of the IBS Welfare and Social Club (KESIB), in collaboration with the Institute of Bioscience (IBS) management, organised the IBS Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony and Iftar Event in conjunction with Ramadan 1446H.

This inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of the Director of IBS, Professor Dr Zunita Zakaria, along with members of the IBS management, IBS staff and their families, as well as IBS students. In his speech as the management representative, Mr Rafiuz Zaman Haroun expressed the management’s full support for organising such an event, which will undoubtedly strengthen the bonds of friendship among staff and further enhance the spirit of Ramadan. This aligns with the event’s motto, "Ramadan Dirai, Ganjaran Dinikmati".

Prior to the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony, each staff member was assigned a specific number of pages of the Quran to be read from 3rd to 20th March 2025. During the ceremony, the collective recitation of Surahs Adh-Dhuha to An-Naas was led by Ustaz Hafiz Ghazali from the UPM Islamic Centre. In his tazkirah, he emphasised the importance of continuously learning to read the Quran, even if one’s recitation is not yet fluent. He also highlighted the profound wisdom in reading and understanding the Quran as a guide for life.

After breaking fast with light refreshments, the Maghrib prayer was performed in congregation in the Tongkat Ali Emas Room. This was followed by a shared meal, featuring the main dish of chicken rice along with a variety of other foods generously donated by the attendees.

Mr Mohamad Ismail Bin Baharom, the programme director, expressed his gratitude for the presence of the guests, as well as to the donors who contributed in the form of money, food, or effort. Special thanks were also extended to the management of the UPM Islamic Centre and the Serdang Agricultural Complex Mosque for their generosity in lending Qurans, prayer mats, and rehal. It is hoped that such events can continue to be organized in the future.
