8 September 2025 – A delegation from Jeol Ltd, Japan, consisting of 9 people led by Izumi Oi, President & CEO of Jeol Ltd., visited the Microscopy Unit, Institute of Biosciences (IBS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), starting from 3.45 pm to 5.30 pm. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen academic and research networks and explore opportunities for collaboration in the field of electron microscopy between the two parties.

The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Ina Salwany Md Yassin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Bioscience, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Intan Shameha Abdul Razak, Coordinator of the Microscopy Unit, Institute of Bioscience. The discussion session began with a brief introduction by the Coordinator of the Microscopy Unit about the role and function of the Microscopy Unit, Institute of Bioscience, as well as introducing the high-tech equipment owned by this unit in producing high-impact research.

After the discussion session, the delegation was taken to visit the Microscopy Unit which houses several Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) units and also several other high-tech equipment related to this field of microscopy. The visit ended at 5.30 pm with mutual appreciation and commitment to continue cooperation in the future.
