UPM-MAKNA Cancer Research Laboratory (CANRES) has organised CANRES Open Day on 16 and 17 November 2021. The objective of this event was to open up the laboratory to allow the public to learn the process of drug discovery in cancer research. The participants were given the opportunity to have hands-on experience in extraction active compound from the plant. This event was officiated by the IBS director, Prof. Dr. Zunita Zakaria, and attended by Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA), led by the General Manager, Puan Farahida Mohd Farid and colleagues on 16 November 2021 and Sugarbomb Worldwide Sdn Bhd, led by the Vice President of Product, Dr. Muhammad Zamir Othman and colleagues on 17 November 2021. CANRES Open Day was sponsored by Sugarbomb beginning from year 2020 and this year they have sponsored a research grant worth RM15,000 to Cancer Researcher of IBS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Sarah Othman as part of the company Community Service Responsibility (CSR).
