Education and work history

Dr. Zetty is currently an Associate Professor and the head of Plant-Algae Biochemistry and Biotechnology Laboratory (PABB), FBSB UPM. Her research interests include elucidating thiamine (vitamin B1) biosynthesis pathway in plants and algae, the development of microalgae as a vaccine carrier system for aquaculture organisms, exploring the potential of locally isolated microalgae and Cyanobacteria, and evaluating at the biostimulatory properties of Malaysian seaweeds. Dr. Zetty was the recipient of the 2015 Australia APEC Women in Research Fellowship and the recipient of Malaysia’s prestigious Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment 2017. She also won various research and innovation awards including the Leave A Nest Award at Tech Planter Malaysia 2021, the Nippon Shokubai Award at the Tech Planter Asia Final 2021, and a Silver Medal at ITEX 2020.
