Workshop on Fish Health Management held at the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI)

29 February 2023 – A workshop on vaccination for fish health management, disease prevention, and productivity enhancement was conducted at the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) in Mymensingh. BFRI is situated within the premises of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) campus. The workshop was jointly organised by BFRI and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and took place at the BPRI Central Auditorium at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Dr. Md Zulfikar Ali, the Director-General of BFRI, chaired the workshop, with special guests including Professor Dr. Zamri Saad, Associate Professor Dr. Ina Salwany Md Yasin (Deputy Director of the Institute of Bioscience), and Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Noor Amal Azmai (Head of Aquatic Animal Health and Therapeutics Laboratory, Institute of Bioscience) from UPM. Also in attendance were Dr. Anuradha Bhadra, Chief Scientific Officer of BFRI, and Senior Scientific Officer Dr. Md Shirajum Monir from BFRI.

The workshop commenced with a presentation highlighting BFRI's work, research, and objectives. Senior Scientific Officer Dr. Md Shirajum Monir from BFRI then delivered a presentation on the significance of providing vaccines for safeguarding fish health and enhancing production. Following that, researchers from the Aquatic Animal Health and Therapeutics Laboratory, Institute of Bioscience, UPM, shared insights on vaccine production, research, and treatments aimed at improving aquatic animal health and boosting fish production.
