31 July 2023 – The Natural Medicines and Products Research Laboratory (NaturMeds), Institute of Bioscience (IBS) has organised a talk series-26 entitled “Plant Tissue Culture: Potential in Agricultural Industry”. This talk was presented by Madam Julia Abdul Aziz, a Science Officer from the Biodiversity Unit (UBD) at IBS. She experienced more than 20 years in plant tissue culture, especially in herbal plant culture, ornamental plants, and fruiting trees.

This talk was organised in fulfilling the requests of postgraduate students, researchers, and the private sectors that are interested in plant tissue culture. The main objective of this talk is to expose them to the theory, techniques, and potential of plant tissue culture in the agricultural industry. Participants have also been exposed to various types of tissue culture from different plants that were successfully propagated. 

The talk has been participated via an online platform by 77 registered participants from different Pusat TanggungJawab (PTJ) UPM Serdang and UPM Bintulu Campus, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and a teacher from SMK Pulau Indah, Klang. The talk ends with Q&A and photography group sessions.
