21 August 2023 - The Aquatic Animal Health and Therapeutics Laboratory successfully organised an International Webinar titled "Fish Vaccine and Vaccination" which was conducted virtually through Google Meet. The webinar moderator was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Annas Salleh, and the speakers were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ina Salwany Md Yasin, Prof. Dr. Alim Isnansetyo and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sasimanas Unajak. Each speaker presented valuable insights into vaccination practices and research findings specific to their respective countries, namely Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. The webinar also addressed critical issues related to vaccination usages, vaccine field trials and latest vaccine technologies. Vaccines are various preparations of antigens derived from specific pathogenic organisms that are rendered non-pathogenic. They enhance the organism's resistance to future infections by the same pathogen. Vaccination, similarly, serves as a preventive measure safeguarding fish populations against potential diseases, thereby mitigating the associated costs related to morbidity, mortality, and therapeutic interventions. This webinar had been participated by 61 participants from aquaculture related industries, government agencies, researchers, and students.
