SERDANG, 12 May: Institute of Bioscience in collaboration with Putra Science Park has organized a briefing on Intellectual Property in Bilik Kesidang Utama which was attended by 23 participants consisting of institute management members, research officers, science officers and research associates. This briefing is a roadshow programme that is organized by the Intellectual Property Division of Putra Science Park for faculties and institutes in UPM. Prof. Dr. Rusmawati Said (Deputy Director) and Puan Ashida Othman (Science Officer) from Intellectual Property Division of Putra Science Park were the speakers of this programme.

Topics such as the functions of Intellectual Property Division, types of intellectual properties (patent, trade secret, industrial design, copyright, integrated circuit design, trademark, and new plant variety) and application procedures for intellectual properties by using UPM Intelectual Property System (UPMIP) were covered in the briefing session. 

The speakers also shared with the researchers the questions that the panel from UPM would ask. Successful applications will receive recognition from the Malaysian Intellectual Property Corporation (MyIPO). At the end of the briefing there was a question and answer session with researchers at IBS who have questions about intellectual property.
