29 March 2023 – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faizal Abdull Razis (Head of Natural Medicines and Products Research Laboratory, Institute of Bioscience) had attended the Handover Ceremony of the Research, Development, and Commercialisation (R&D&C) Grant of Khazanah Alam Direct Selling Industry Programme and the Direct Sales Licenses, held at the Multipurpose Hall, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Putrajaya. The grants and licenses were handed over by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub. Also present at the ceremony were Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof (Secretary General of KPDN), Dato' Rohaizi Bahari (Senior Director, Distribution Trade and Business Sector KPDN), Datin Sylvia Koh (President of the Malaysian Direct Distribution Association (MDDA)), Mr. Mohamad Zaihan Mohamed Ariffin (Deputy President of the Direct Selling Association of Malaysia (DSAM)) and Officers of the Ministry.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faizal Abdull Razis had received a Research, Development, and Commercialisation (R&D&C) Grant worth RM400,000.00 for the provision of freeze dryer facilities, which will be used to offer services to direct selling companies in the manufacturing of high quality and innovative products. The implementation of the R&D&C Grant Initiative was aimed to facilitate business development of the direct selling sector, especially for companies that produce and market local products from natural resources. Indirectly, the receipt of this grant may serve as a platform that provides UPM researchers with opportunities to conduct research collaboration with the direct selling industry.
