Education and work history

Dr. Gayathri Thevi Selvarajah is an Associate Professor at Department of Veterinary Clinical Studies, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from UPM in 2005 and her Doctor of Philosophy from University of Utrecht, The Netherlands in 2011. Her research areas include cancer biomarkers, comparative and translational oncology and innovative diagnostics and therapeutics in feline and canine cancer. Besides cancer, she has strong interest on research on zoonotic diseases and detection of novel viruses across species. She has published manuscripts in numerous journals both at national and international levels. She also obtained 2 copyrights on innovations in teaching and learning of veterinary oncology and supervised more than 20 postgraduate research students. Besides her routine work, she is a clinical consultant at the University Veterinary Hospital and active in the IACUC committee as well as contribute to continuing professional education for local veterinarians through her involvement with the Malaysian Small Animal Veterinary Association (MSAVA). At the international level, she is a member of the Veterinary Cancer Society, Veterinary Society of Surgical Oncology and the European Veterinary Cancer Society.
