Education and work history

Dr. Chia Suet Lin is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, UPM. He obtained his BSc (Microbiology), MSc (Molecular Biology), and PhD (Medical Biotechnology) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. His research interest is in virology, specifically, Newcastle disease virus (NDV), as an oncolytic virus for cancer treatment. His research team is working on genetically modifying the virus to reduce its pathogenicity towards avian species and to enhance the oncolytic activities of the virus by inserting potential gene(s) into the viral genome. He has numerous publications within the specialty in reputed national and international journals. He is actively associated with various national and international societies and academies. With his contributions, he has gained recognition among honorable subject experts and received several reputed awards including a number of national and industrial grants.
