PUTRAJAYA, 24 January - The Institute of Biosciences (IBS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has successfully organized the 1st International Conference on Poultry and Fish Vaccinology and Diagnosis (ICPoFiVD) 2023 to share the latest research findings and build new research relationships in the world of animal vaccines and therapeutics for chicken and fish.

Chairman of ICPoFiVD, Prof. Dr. Zunita Zakaria said this program is the first conference that combines researchers from two major livestock in Malaysia, namely chicken and fish in line with the specialized field of IBS as a Higher Center of Excellence (HICoE), which is the animal vaccines and therapeutics.

"This conference also aims to provide the latest information regarding the application of vaccines, diagnostics, and animal disease management practices in sustainable agriculture."

"I am very happy to see today's participation because it received a very encouraging response. At the beginning we only targeted 120 participants, now there are more than 200 national and international participants," she said.

According to her, this conference also involved collaboration with the World Veterinary Poultry Association-Malaysia (WVPA), World's Poultry Science Association - Malaysian Branch (WPSA), Asian Fisheries Association (AFS), Malaysian Fisheries Association (MFS), and Informa Markets Malaysia Sdn. "The two-day conference starting from 17 to 18 January 2023 also discussed disease control, high production including ensuring product quality is always good and reasonable production costs," she said.

She hopes that the partnership between participants in this conference will benefit all researchers,   stakeholders including chicken and fish consumers. -UPM
