This program is directed towards valorisation of natural products via advancing chemical and biological knowledge through multidisciplinary research. Scope of projects within the program include investigations into:
i) The chemodiversity present in Malaysia’s bioresources and its biological properties
ii) Investigations into how an organism reacts or responds to drastic changes in its natural environment by deciphering the metabolite changes triggered in the organisms tissues and biofluids.
The program aims to discover useful natural product materials (single or multi-components) as feeder to further drug discovery and phytomedicines development research. Through the use of metabolomics approach, the program also aims to discover novel both chemical markers and metabolic biomarkers with potential applications in quality control, standardization, and in diagnostics, as well as yielding novel mechanistic information that will drive a deeper understanding of biological functions and processes.
