This program aims to improve natural products by advancing chemical and biological knowledge through multidisciplinary research. The scope of projects in this program includes research on:i) The variety of chemicals found in biological sources in Malaysia and their biological propertiesii) Research on how organisms respond to drastic changes in the natural environment by describing the metabolic changes triggered in the tissues and biological fluids of organisms. The program aims to find useful natural product ingredients (single or multiple components) as catalysts for drug discovery and phytochemical development research. Through the use of a metabolomic approach, this program also aims to discover chemical markers and new metabolic biomarkers with potential applications in quality control, standardization, and diagnostics, as well as produce new mechanistic information that will lead to a deeper understanding of biological functions and processes. |
