0 August 2025 - The Workshop on Screening and Optimisation in Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was held from 22 to 23 July 2025 at Institute of Bioscience, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This inaugural workshop was organised by the Natural Medicines and Product Research Laboratory (NaturMeds), Institute of Bioscience, UPM.  A total of 13 participants attended, including one academic officer from UPM, six research officers from the Malaysian Cocoa Board, MARDI and SIRIM Berhad, one postgraduate student from UPM, and five postgraduate students from UPM and UiTM.

The workshop was officiated by Professor Dr Ina Salwany Md Yasin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Bioscience, followed by a lecture on RSM and its importance in research and publication by Dr Nor Asma Ab Razak. Next, participants learned various experimental designs for screening and optimisation during lecture slots 2 to 5, delivered by Associate Professor Dr Siti Efliza Ashaari, a lecturer from the Foundation Centre of Science, UPM. On the second day, a practical session led by ChM. Dr Fazila Zakaria and assisted by Muhammad Danial Nordin and Nur Farah Syazwahazwani Sufatan s was conducted on second day. 

The workshop concluded with a closing ceremony and certificate presentation to participants and speakers by Associate Professor Dr Siti Munirah Mohd Faudzi, Head of the NaturMeds Laboratory.

Also present was Dr Nor Asma Ab Razak, Director of the Workshop on Screening and Optimisation in Response Surface Methodology (RSM).
