15 April 2025 – The UPM-Microbial Culture Collection (UPM-MCC) under the Institute of Bioscience, Universiti Putra Malaysia, successfully organised the UPM-MCC Webinar Series 1/2025 on 15 April 2025, held virtually via Zoom.

The webinar, titled “The French International Depository Authority’s (IDA) Experience on the Protection and Conservation of Scientific and Industrial Heritage”, featured a keynote presentation by Dr. Raquel Hurtado Ortiz, Executive and Administrative Head of the National Collection of Cultures of Microorganisms (CNCM) at Institut Pasteur, France. Dr. Ortiz shared valuable insights and best practices on the preservation and protection of microbial collections of scientific and industrial importance, drawing from her extensive experience at one of Europe’s leading microbial culture collections.

The session attracted enthusiastic participation from researchers and scientific personnel both locally and internationally, reflecting the global relevance of microbial resource management. This initiative provided a platform for knowledge exchange and fostered international collaboration in the field of microbial conservation.
