30 July 2025 – The Universiti Putra Malaysia Microbial Culture Collection (UPM-MCC) participated in the invitation by the Co-Curriculum Unit of Sekolah Kebangsaan LB Johnson, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, to organise a science exhibition aimed at sparking students’ interest in science subjects. The exhibition was held in conjunction with SK LB Johnson’s STEM Month programme and the “One School, One Scientist” initiative. Also participating in this exhibition was the Narcotics Division of the Department of Chemistry Malaysia.
The UPM-MCC booth featured a general introduction to microorganisms, as well as interactive activities such as guessing games and puzzle-solving challenges. In addition, there was an art activity where students could express their creativity by shaping microorganisms using clay.
Beyond cultivating interest in science, the programme also encouraged the development of soft skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and communication among participants. UPM-MCC remains committed to organising similar initiatives as part of its efforts to support STEM education in Malaysia and to nurture a science-literate younger generation. UPM-MCC’s participation in such programmes is in line with UPM’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing access to inclusive and comprehensive science education.
