27 April 2026 – The Talent@IBS Program for Technical Presentations for Scheme C (Overseas) for the April 2026 session was successfully held at the IBS Auditorium with the presence of Institute of Biosciences (IBS) staff from various schemes. This initiative by the IBS Laboratory Services Management Secretariat featured Ms. Ainaa Syafiqah Mohd Alias, Assistant Science Officer at the UPM Microbial Culture Collection Unit (UPM-MCC), Institute of Biosciences.

She shared her knowledge during a month-long attachment training at the Korean Agricultural Culture Collection (KACC), South Korea. This attachment training, which was allocated by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor through the Overseas Travel allocation, added value to her knowledge in her actual duties.

She explained the role of KACC as a culture collection center for the storage and preservation of microorganisms. It supplies microbial cultures for research and industry purposes and is responsible for ensuring genetic stability and long-term usability of microorganisms. Ms. Ainaa also shared about the work culture in the laboratory that can be applied in their respective laboratories as an improvement measure. Various questions were asked by the participants who were so excited to hear her sharing.

After the presentation session was over, Mr. Rafiuz Zaman Bin Haroun, Head of the IBS Laboratory Services Management Secretariat, gave a briefing on reporting and activities that need to be carried out by the laboratory, especially in preparation for Occupational Safety and Health Inspections (PKK) and Internal Audit SPK 9001:2015.

The monthly Talent@IBS program is expected to strengthen technical knowledge and increase staff understanding of operating specialized laboratory equipment and techniques, as well as being a platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences among IBS laboratory staff.
