22 October 2024 - The Natural Medicines and Products Research Laboratory (NaturMeds) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) successfully hosted an international seminar on October 22, 2024, focusing on innovative treatments for Alzheimer’s disease. Titled "Investigating Treatments for Alzheimer's Disease Using Curcumin, Flavonoids, Acridine, Rhodanine, and Their Metal Complexes," the seminar invited an expert in drug design and natural product research.

The distinguished speaker, Prof. Dr. Emel Yildiz from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Cukurova University, Türkiye, shared her expertise on the therapeutic potential of natural compounds, including curcumin, flavonoids, acridine, and rhodanine, and their enhancement through metal complexation. Prof. Yildiz’s lecture sparked engaging discussions and provided valuable insights into the future of drug design using natural product-metal complexes, reinforcing the importance of interdisciplinary research in addressing complex health issues.
