12 Ogos 2025 – The Institute of Bioscience welcomed a delegation of five (5) representatives from Prima Nexus Sdn. Bhd. to attend the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Exchange Ceremony between Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Prima Nexus Sdn. Bhd.

The relationship between Prima Nexus Sdn. Bhd. and the Comparative Medicine and Technology Unit (COMeT), a strategic unit under the administration of the Institute of Bioscience, has been established since 2017.

Collaboration in contract research as well as the co-organisation of workshops on the care and use of rodent animals has fostered a strong network between the university and the industry.

In 2018, the first Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Prima Nexus Sdn. Bhd. and UPM. Today’s ceremony marks the third MoU with Prima Nexus Sdn. Bhd., which will remain in effect until 2030.

“I believe that with this renewed commitment, more opportunities will arise for organising workshops on animal care and use, contract research, technology transfer, and the generation of outputs with greater impact for students, researchers, and the community,” said Professor Dr. Zunita Zakaria in her speech.

The MoU exchange session was represented by Professor Dr. Zunita Zakaria, Director of the Institute of Bioscience, UPM, and Ms. Nurafifah Samsudin, Managing Partner, representing Prima Nexus Sdn. Bhd. The session was also followed by a photography session before a light refreshment.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Vaccine and Biomolecule Laboratory (VacBio) and the UPM-MAKNA Cancer Research Laboratory (CANRES).
